Auditions for Stratford on the Avenue Theatre Festival Scheduled

May 19-20, 2019

The Stage Left Theatre Company will hold auditions for their 2019 Stratford on the Avenue Theatre Festival on Sunday, May 19th from 4-5:30pm and Monday, May 20th from 7-8:30pm. Both days auditions will take place at the Ludington Library- 217 E. Ludington Ave. Sunday auditions will be in the West Shore Bank Room and Monday auditions will be in the Rotary Room.

This year's main stage play is Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, with an a comedic adaptation of Othello as an opener. Actors of all ages are needed and no experience is necessary to audition as Stage Left loves to work with new actors and help them learn the craft.

Performances will be held on July 26th-28th and August 1st-3rd at Rotary Park. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7 pm with Sunday matinees at 2 pm.

About the Stratford on the Avenue Theatre Festival

The annual Stratford on the Avenue Theatre Festival is a production of the Stage Left Theatre Company, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of local individuals dedicated to providing a variety of theatre opportunities to the community and, eventually, hosting educational workshops and children's theatre events.

This outdoor theatre festival is held during the summer at Rotary Park (formerly City Park) in downtown Ludington and features classical play performances by the likes of Shakespeare, Molière, Wild, etc. In 2018, the main stage play was Shakespeare's As You Like It, with a humorous, abridged adaption of Shakespeare's classic called "Macbeth & Sons Auto Sales, LLC" written by Trenton Wahr and Deanna Dibble as the opener. This year's event will be held on Friday, July 26th-Sunday, July 28th AND Friday, August 2nd-Sunday, August 4th. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7pm and Sunday matinees begin at 2pm.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for the show. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the gate, with ticket sales opening soon.

Each year, Stage Left chooses a different non-profit beneficiary for the festival, with 2018 proceeds going to the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. The 2019 beneficiary will be Habitat for Humanity of Mason County.
